[Thursday Morning]
Google Maps is the best
This fire is quite large, and pretty much making my entire skyline fill with smoke.
They have evacuated much of Corralitos, and closed a few roads. I really wont have any real information until I get to work in an hour or so, which is where all the information comes from, (many of my customers are firefighters etc...)
The really weird part is that my sister (who lives up in the 707 area code fyi) knew of the fire and woke me up before i did.. ;)
That is pretty exciting to hear my small town's name in the news so frequently though..
Bleah, my entire backyard is getting covered with ash right now.
Power was off for about 9 hours today from around 12:30 to about 10, which caused my store to close up early.
The sky is so surreal looking right now, i really should stop getting distracted by it.
[Friday update] Car is covered with ashes. The sky is actually looking pretty clear, seems that the fire is moving towards gilroy now, and that most of the houses on Browns Valley Road seem safe for the time being.
I really don't have much fear for the safety of my own house, it seems pretty safe for now at least, living on the top of the valley is good for wind blowing away from my house and stuff.
will not know the scope of the actual damages until after its under control. which seems like it could be days away at the current pace.
Hopefully they will not cancel the lunberjack pancake breakfast this year, as that would make my bacon craving stomach feel sad. |

[May. 19th, 2008|01:36 am] |
This weekend I went off to Super-Con in San Jose, and it was much more awesome than it had any rights to be.
Got autographs and was able to meet the original cast of MST3k as well as Wil Wheaton. Also got to be in the front row for the Mst3k and the Hurley panels, which was pretty much awesome.
At the Robotech panel, I won a limited edition action figure and a Mospeada sweat shirt.
The robotech panel can best be summarized with the phrase "We at Harmony Gold have the worldwide rights to Robotech." but no real information was really released.
The location was downtown San Jose on one of the hottest days so far this year, which made me happy that they had chosen to use the San Jose Convention center, since the dealer room that they tend to use for Fanime was nicely air conditioned, but this was not the case, apparently the convention center has a 'south wing' which is really just a giant tent which lacks any form of AC.
There was a masquerade, which contained somewhere around 13 entries, which included some really great costumes.. (and then there were the other costumes, which were not quite as good)
On saturday and sunday, I used about 90% of my gas tank while driving around.
Next weekend will be Fanime, and that should be pretty fun, at least for about 3 minutes and 3 seconds.. ;) |

I think that once fanime is done and over with, it would be a good idea to go camping.
Getting out of town for a weekend or so, sounds so lovely right now. perhaps at a lake to go swimming in or something, or someplace with decent hiking trails. Wonder if there is any places near to a telescope to go stargazing with?
Anyone have any recommendations?
And who would be game to come along? |

My Check Engine light just came on while driving home, in the middle of the dead zone on Freedom Blvd, in the middle of the night, scary.
Nate will be coming over with his diagnostic tools tomorrow to see what it wants, hopefully it will not require any expensive parts.
In other news, I may have accidentally bought Grand Theft Auto 4 today. |

| Dreams |
[Mar. 20th, 2008|12:43 pm] |
I have been thinking a lot about dreams, and why i never seem to remember mine. This morning, i made the conscious decision to write down a quick synopsis of what i remember from last nights dream. I had a very strange dream last night Somehow I was taking a surfing class, and somehow wound up getting lost in a labyrinthine campus while looking for my backpack. I also become will smith for a little while after finding my backpack while trying to find my way back to the ocean to make it back to the surfing class on time, I remember that there was running through campus shirtless for a while, and of course, getting horribly lost at school, which seems to be a recurring theme in my dreams now that I think about it. don't think I have ever been will smith though.
Its how i remember it. incoherent, and totally random, but what should i expect from a dream. |

| | Maps - Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Rock Band OST | ] | This week has turned out to just flow together perfectly, with at least 2 of the days contained in it being extraordinary.
Sunday was the Oscars, right? One of the best films I had seen in a while (Once http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0907657/ ) actually won something, Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song, which is great since the soundtrack is fabulous.
On Wednesday, my dealer finally called me back regarding an order of Girl Scout Cookies I had made a while ago, so I wound up with some tasty snacks. At work (which was actually pretty busy which also made the day flow very quickly) I was able to listen to Jazz all day which usually keeps me mellow. In addition to that, the day was just beautiful in every way, with the sky just that special shade of blue that only happens in the nicest days of spring. After work I got to see a movie (Definitely, Maybe) with a friend, which was quite fun as well.
On Thursday, I got my new clothes dryer installed, which is a great thing. After work, Chan came over, and I was able to finally show her the improvements I have made to the kitchen and living room (new floors, cabinets, sink, stove, ... everything?) and cooked us dinner and then watched another movie (this time Justice League: the New Frontier on blu-ray) I really have not had the chance to see or talk to her in what seems like forever, but its good that I get to talk to her again.
Friday... long day, but I did get paid, which is always nice as well. Started to (but didn't finish) a movie (the Darjeeling Limited) over with Ian.
and on Saturday, I had a fantastic time with some good friends just having fun in a playground in Berkeley. I don't think i have been on a swing since ~6th grade or so. And there was the cutest little boy ever there, who wanted to play with us which was a lot of fun as well.. spinning him on the little spinny thingy (think that is the technical name) and pushing him on the swings was a lot of fun. of course I got to taunt chibi and natasha, which made the trip just that much better, and also got to meet one of Rosie's friends who was super sweet. After we got back from the day out, we played our game for a while, and then moved on to Rock Band. I am getting better on the bass, and played a few rounds of guitar before retiring for the evening to give a couple of rides home, and then got home about an hour ago.
Tomorrow is another day off, and will try to make the most of it. (will probably grab some Dim Sum with friends in the morning/afternoon) |

Harry Osborne has one of the lines I would use to describe it.
Waitress: How's the pie? Harry: It's soooo gooood.
Which about sums it up.
Thinking back on it, emo parker was actually pretty funny, in a nerd trying to be cool sorta way. |

| Stupid TV |
[Jan. 29th, 2007|08:34 pm] |
Ok, so somehow over the weekend, my AV inputs on my current tv died on me, so no wii for now.
My tv is a 20 inch CRT, my monitor is a 17 inch crt. and I am looking to upgrade both into one unit. prefer an LCD right now
looking at either Viewsonic 32 inch or Phillips 23 inch
these seem to be the two that I can currently afford the most, I will want to use it for both pc use, as well as tv use, and am leaning towards the 23 for now, just because the 32 may be overkill for a monitor. [edit] Kane sent me this link, and it looks Good as well They even have it at costco =)
Any advice? am open to other suggestions as well, so long as the price is in the same ballpark (I like costco, since the return policy is really quite good) [second update] when doing research on the dell monitor, also came across this. which has a great deal on a similar monitor by gateway. |

Sorry about the super late update.
Plans are bbq on the beach in the afternoon time (Seacliff beach, unless its completely full, in which case I am certain that we can find somewhere else to go)
I am super beyond broke right now, so it will be difficult for me to bring just about anything.. though I can probably scrounge around something good to bring.
I will scope out the beach when I wake up tomorrow, and snag ourselves a bbq pit.
And then have everyone who is coming be there at about 1pm?
Throw me a call if you need directions or anything, but its the beach next to the cement boat on the state park exit of highway 1.
Throw me a call if you want to come hang out on the beach with us. (831) 239-0670 not sure what the weather will be like though.

Flying out to Kauai, the garden isle of Hawaii on Thursday to work on cleaning out my fathers house, and for the memorial service on the 15th, I get to come home again on Tuesday night, and work again on thursday.
I have many things on my mind right now, including but not limited to: Attire, what should I wear to a memorial service on the beach, and in a boat. Ashes, I get to sprinkle them out over the Hanalei Bay, should I do it slowly, quickly, what if the wind shifts and the ashes wind up getting on me, lebowski style. and what do I do with the container that they were in? Shopping, Will I have a chance to buy stuff that I have forgotten to pack? Relaxing, Going out 3000 miles away from home, I hope to catch at least one sunset, and potentially sunrise, and hopefully go swimming at least once. Camera, this is the perfect time to have one.. good thing mine was stolen a few months ago. People, What do I tell my fathers friends? how many people will show up to this thing?? Will I know anyone outside of my mother and sister? Will I be asked to speak at the memorial? what the $%#@ should I say? I will probably need to runnoft and hide for at least a little bit. panic does that to me sometimes. Will I be able to sleep in a foreign bed, in a foreign house, in a different time zone? What about times where I break down and start crying or something? I doubt that I can fake a knee injury. I will have my mom and sister with me, will that make it better or worse? Should I want any mementos of his?
I really don't know what the next week will hold, and I feel all edgy and panicked.. I should probably go make myself some tasty hot chocolate and get to bed.
Will I even have Cellphone Signal where I can use it. I don't think I will have any computer access at all. But I will have my phone, and hopefully can still receive calls. and charge it when necessary. (831) 239-0670
I am probably thinking too much and should probably just stop. |

so... My father died today.
We were never really close, but we were actually working on repairing that over the past few months or so. His 60th birthday was to be in November.
I last talked to him 3 or 4 days ago, and told him that he had to go see a doctor, and get a checkup, as I was concerned about his health. (40+ years of hard drinking simply must not be so good for you)
He had his share of faults, but he was my father. and now all those fears that I had about his passing before being able to reconcile have come to pass. |
